Christians Are Not Consigned to Hell

 

Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. Hebrews 2:14-15 (NIV)

I once worked for a local cemetery as a sales rep going door to door. Many people I spoke to listened respectfully until they realized I was selling cemetery property. I cannot tell you the number of doors I literally had slammed in my face.

The fear of death can terrorize the human mind and soul and create a steadfast determination to avoid it with silly and unscriptural fantasies. One lady told me she didn’t need a cemetery plot. When I asked why, she said “Because I don’t plan on ever dying.” That was over fifty years ago. She was no spring chicken at the time and I’m very sure that wherever her choice took her that what she refused to believe then she believes now.

I have lately been alarmed at the many videos I have seen that are teaching Christians will go to hell for their sins. The long and the short of that idea is farfetched. Christians will not go to hell.

Every believer is indwelled with the Holy Spirit when they believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit, part of the Godhead (1^st Corinthians 6:19, Acts 5:4), cannot exist in hell. How can God be separated from Himself? And why would He have to suffer for His sins if He is perfectly holy? If you are a truly committed believer in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ there is no way you will be assigned to be separated from God in hell.

Paul writes in today’s verse that the fear of death can hold us in a lifelong bondage to continual stress and worry that takes a toll on our physical being, our relationship with Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and our trust in the power of Christ’s substitutionary work that has redeemed you thoroughly.

If you are reading this as a searcher, seeking to find a place where you are valued unconditionally or a believer that has lived as a slave to the fear of death let me assure you the true answer is no, a Christian cannot be cast into hell for their sins for Christ cannot deny Himself. And yes, if you are searching for ultimate truth please read to the end.

The yoke or burden of Christ is not onerous or heavy, so if you are a believer, relax. The confidence that if Christ’s power upholds creation blotting out your sins is certainly doable in your personal affairs. It brings rest for the soul (Matthew 11:28-30). Should you breathe your last today you will instantly be present with Christ (2^nd Corinthians 5:9) as was the thief on the cross, not tomorrow, next week or at the end of time but today (Luke 23:43).

If you are seeking that kind of confident hope, I can point you to the Way (John 14:6). Can you embrace that Jesus Christ is a real person who is alive right now at the place of honor at the right hand of God? All you need to do is believe in His work of taking upon Himself every sin from truly repentant hearts. His faithful love has done it.

I like to put out this challenge to searchers. Why not trust Jesus? What do you have to lose? Ask Him to forgive your sins and lead you into a changed life. If He is not who he said He is, then what have you lost? You can go about your business and keep looking. But He is truly real. Test Him. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you. Really you have nothing to lose and a whole lot to gain, May He lead you in your search and break any chains of worry, and grant you the rest you want from the burden of care and stress!

Una vez trabajé en un cementerio local como comercial yendo puerta por puerta. Mucha gente con la que hablé me escuchó respetuosamente hasta que se dieron cuenta de que estaba vendiendo propiedad del cementerio. No puedo decirte la cantidad de puertas que literalmente me cerraron en la cara.

El miedo a la muerte puede aterrorizar la mente y el alma humana y crear una determinación firme de evitarlo con fantasías tontas y poco bíblicas. Una señora me dijo que no necesitaba una parcela en un cementerio. Cuando le pregunté por qué, dijo: "Porque no pienso morir nunca." Eso fue hace más de cincuenta años. No era una joven en aquel momento y estoy muy seguro de que, dondequiera que la llevó su elección, lo que se negaba a creer entonces, lo cree ahora.

Últimamente me ha alarmado la cantidad de vídeos que he visto que enseñan que los cristianos irán al infierno por sus pecados. En resumen, esa idea es inverosímil. Los cristianos no irán al infierno.

Todo creyente habita con el Espíritu Santo cuando cree en el Señor Jesucristo. El Espíritu Santo, parte de la Divinidad (1 Corintios 6:19, Hechos 5:4), no puede existir en el infierno. ¿Cómo puede Dios separarse de sí mismo? ¿Y por qué tendría que sufrir por sus pecados si es perfectamente santo? Si eres un creyente verdaderamente comprometido en la obra redentora de Jesucristo, no hay manera de que te asignen separarte de Dios en el infierno.

Pablo escribe en el versículo de hoy que el miedo a la muerte puede mantenernos en una esclavitud de por vida ante el estrés y la preocupación continuos que afectan nuestro ser físico, nuestra relación con el Padre, el Hijo y el Espíritu Santo, y nuestra confianza en el poder de la obra sustitutiva de Cristo que os ha redimido por completo.

Si estás leyendo esto como buscador, buscando un lugar donde seas valorado incondicionalmente o como creyente que ha vivido esclavo del miedo a la muerte, déjame asegurarte que la verdadera respuesta es no, un cristiano no puede ser arrojado al infierno por sus pecados, porque Cristo no puede negarse a sí mismo. Y sí, si buscas la verdad última, por favor lee hasta el final.

El yugo o la carga de Cristo no es gravoso ni pesado, así que si eres creyente, relájate. La confianza de que si el poder de Cristo sostiene a la creación borrando tus pecados es ciertamente posible en tus asuntos personales. Trae descanso al alma (Mateo 11:28-30). Si hoy exhalas tu último aliento, estarás instantáneamente presente con Cristo (2 Corintios 5:9), como lo estuvo el ladrón en la cruz, no mañana, la semana que viene ni al final de los tiempos, sino hoy (Lucas 23:43).

Si buscas ese tipo de esperanza confiada, puedo indicarte el Camino (Juan 14:6). ¿Puedes aceptar que Jesucristo es una persona real que está viva ahora mismo en el lugar de honor a la derecha de Dios? Solo tienes que creer en Su obra de asumir sobre Sí cada pecado de corazones verdaderamente arrepentidos. Su amor fiel lo ha logrado.

Me gusta lanzar este desafío a los buscadores. ¿Por qué no confiar en Jesús? ¿Qué tienes que perder? Pídele que perdone tus pecados y te guíe hacia una vida cambiada. Si Él no es quien dice ser, ¿qué has perdido? Puedes seguir con tus asuntos y seguir buscando. Pero Él es realmente real. Ponle a prueba. Pídele que se revele ante ti. Realmente no tienes nada que perder y mucho que ganar, que Él te guíe en tu búsqueda y rompa cualquier cadena de preocupación, y te conceda el descanso que deseas de la carga del cuidado y el estrés.
